Maintenance Planner/Scheduler Job Description
Essential duties and responsibilities
* Analyzes work orders and operation demands to establish daily and weekly maintenance schedules.
* Prepare and maintain a weekly schedule. Process a daily work schedule and previous day late work.
* Establish and review weekly planned maintenance work schedules for various crafts, including time, material, and manpower projections; monitors progress of maintenance work in relation to specified schedules; recommend corrective actions as necessary.
* Determine manpower loading for scheduled work and interface with engineering and maintenance to secure necessary resources. Track and follow-up with the resources needed to perform scheduled work. This includes the associated staff, materials, engineering documents, work orders, change control documents and necessary approvals to perform work as planned.
* Maintain a comprehensive maintenance work plan and schedule. Issue summary and detailed look ahead schedules. Develop and optimize the role of planner/scheduler within the scope of these parameters, making recommendations to the Management team.
* Coordinate activities with other departments to ensure timely response to work orders that fit into their schedules.
* Audit completed work to ensure that quality standards are met and are being consistently maintained.
* Maintain all required paper work and approve expenses incurred.
* Assist in the preparation of the budget, including material and equipment cost estimates. Track and meet budget requirements.
* Assist in developing the annual budget and in projecting long-range maintenance budget needs.
* Fully participate in the Vision and Goals of the department and the leadership.
* Address complaints and resolve issues in a timely and professional fashion.
* Participate in interviewing, hiring, and training new employees for your area.
* Requisition parts, supplies and contract services for maintenance and operations.
* May utilize data processing equipment in developing standards and guidelines regarding time, manpower and material projections; consults maintenance records and applies newly developed methods, procedures and material technology.
* Assist in establishing, maintaining and modifying a preventive maintenance program for departmental properties.
* Interface with CMMS, and other tracking systems to provide and maintain status information.
* Adjust Preventive Maintenance schedules and coordinate execution with manufacturing, engineering and maintenance groups. Maintain key performance metrics for the planning effort. Review and report actual vs. planned on completed work.
* Planning and implementation of work must comply with site procedures, SOPs, and programs such as the maintenance, change control and corporate EH&S policies.
Required Skills
* Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
* Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
* Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
* Interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution skills, for work with internal customers, contractors, employees, and other department personnel.
* Ability to use Microsoft Office suite of products at a minimum intermediate level of competence.
* Requires knowledge of general buildings and grounds maintenance procedures; building materials, their use and limitation; applicable codes, laws and ordinances; some knowledge of engineering principles, their application to repair and alteration work in a variety of structures; current labor costs of buildings and grounds maintenance and alteration.
* Requires ability to: exercise good judgment in planning and detailing maintenance work; interpret and evaluate need and cost of building and grounds maintenance and repair work; analyze and prepare plans and specifications; conduct investigations and prepare comprehensive reports; develop solutions to maintenance problems by use of new materials and procedures; operate user electronic data processing equipment.
* Position requires an understanding of mechanical equipment, controls, and instrumentation and calibration activities.
* Organizational and scheduling skills with direct experience in a manufacturing environment.
* Intermediate computer skills with direct experience in using computerized maintenance management systems, scheduling software, along with skills in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
* Communication skills (both verbal and written).
* A quick study that is comfortable in a dynamic environment with varying demands.
* Works effectively with little supervision. Interpersonal skills are required, with the ability to accomplish goals by working with a wide variety of groups, disciplines and individuals.
Education
* Degree: Bachelors Degree or Associates Degree (preferred). Experience can substitute for educational requirements. | | Qualifications: | Current Years of Experience: 0-2
