Description:This position is for a Lab Section Head reporting to the newly developed Systems Test Engineering Lab Department. The Lab Section Head will be responsible for the performance and efforts of up to ten (10) Systems Test Engineering Labs and will ensure these labs are audit ready at all times. The Lab Section Head will also be responsible for the efforts of 8 – 15 direct employees and will work closely with Integrated Product Team Leads and Program Managers ensuring engineering requirements, schedules and budgets are met. Responsibilities for this position include:

· Owns the quality and performance of the Systems Test Engineering Labs and ensures the labs are audit ready at all times. Audits may include, but not be limited to; Environmental Health and Safety, Security, Foreign Object Debris, 7S, and Critical Handling.

· Responsible for the standardization and deployment of common engineering lab processes, practices and procedures.

· Actively involved in the Engineering Lab Council and supports strategic lab planning, including generating and implementing facilities/expense/capital requests.

· Able to lead Systems Test Engineering Lab efforts thereby, ensuring “For Score” hardware is handled properly and meets all pedigree and configuration requirements.

· Ensure successful staff development through effective performance management including; goal setting, career development, compensation, ranking and rating, employee training and developmental task assignments.

· Collaborate with department management and HR to resolve personnel issues fairly and ethically.

· Lead by example by being a champion of respect, diversity and inclusion, and ethical conduct within the organization.

· Implement company policies and practices to ensure compliance with EH&S policies to provide a safe and secure environment.

· Ability to understand current and future staffing needs of the programs and provides effective and timely staffing solutions.

· Brings knowledge of tools, processes and enablers that can be used to ensure employee and program success.



Required Skills:

· Minimum of eight (8) years of technical experience in a Systems Test Lab or Production environment.

· Familiarity with both test and manufacturing operations.

· Strong interpersonal and communications skills (written and verbal).

· Strong team player.

· Experience leading small to mid-sized teams, and providing day-to-day direction and over-sight.

· Ability to obtain a DOD issued Security Clearance.



Desired Skills:

· Familiar with LEAN, 7S, and Value Stream Management concepts and tools.

· Experience with metrology, chemical handling and property control requirements and processes.

· Experience with MS Word, Project, PowerPoint and Excel.

· Proven leadership skills, including willingness to make decisions and embrace change.

· Ability to coordinate with various engineering disciplines and subject matter experts.



Required Education:

· Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field with a minimum of ten (10) years of professional experience, OR

· Associates degree in a related engineering field

AND / OR a minimum of fourteen (14) years of professional experience.
