| Description: | Lumension has a need for a new Vice President of Software Development. This position will report to the President of Lumension and will be based at our headquarters location in Scottsdale, AZ.
As the VP of Software Development you will be responsible for providing leadership to a global product development organization headquartered in Scottsdale, AZ with resources in Utah, Virginia, Florida, Luxembourg, China, and India.
The leader of the Software Development group must be a technologist with strong business experience who has a proven track record of success in leading development teams and interacting with other functional organizations. The VP of Software Development is responsible for all technical aspects of development and delivery of the product roadmap and will participate as a key member of the product development management team. Must be able to forecast and meet schedule and the development budget.
The successful candidate will play an essential role in the success of the business and set the example for how an engineering team should function. You will have a high degree of visibility and decision making within the company.

| Duties: | RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Build great teams and products.
• Drive strategy and vision of product development in alignment with the organizations goals.
• Deliver quality products on time and in budget.
• Direct and optimize product development, including integration, quality assurance and deployment of existing and new products (client & server).
• Partner with software architecture, product management, user experience, and cross-functional teams to exceed customer requirements.
• Facilitate communication and collaboration across product development teams and functional organizations (i.e. Customer Support and Technical Operations).
• Champion and implement disciplined practices while ensuring the highest level of integrity and quality.
• Partner with internal resources and customers to evolve our technology while implementing strong processes and disciplines within the Engineering organization.
• Create and execute technical operating strategies that will support and align with the overall corporate vision and strategies.
• Perform technical due-diligence for M&A activities.
• Merge newly acquired development teams with existing teams
• Manage both on-shore and off-shore development and QA teams
• Manage both new development as well as patches and maintenance releases

| Qualifications: | REQUIREMENTS:
• Proven track record in building, leading and mentoring successful global engineering teams
• VP experience, reporting to a senior executive
• BS in computer science, MS preferred and a minimum of 15 years progressive senior management experience in software development.
• Strong customer focus.
• Experienced with Agile Development, preferably Scrum.
• Experienced in integrating people, process, and products.
• Excellent interpersonal, communications, negotiation and creative problem solving skills.
• Strong planning, prioritization and organizational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and handle shifting priorities
• Ability to identify problems, research issues and collaborate with others to provide options for resolution.
• "Hands-on" leader with the ability to create and execute on plans and work well as a team player.
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Background in software development (C/C++/C#, Java, etc.)
• Experience with developing secure/scalable software
• Experience with networking, embedded and/or low level OS systems
• Implementation of Scrum methodology as part of a development process
